APC joins almost 100 national organizations to oppose economic research ban

Dear APC members,

You may be aware of language in a bill that was considered two weeks ago by
the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human
Services, and Education, preventing the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Institutes, Centers and Offices from supporting economics research.

The language sparked an outcry of opposition from a wide range of groups,
representing scientists, patients, providers, administrators, and others.
With assistance from the Consortium of Social Science Associations and
American Economic Association, PAA and APC drafted a sign on letter to key
members of the House, opposing this language. The letter was signed by
almost 100 national organizations, including the American Association of
Medical Colleges, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and
over 20 U.S. universities.
