Family Identification System Mapping Tool (FIMS) update is now available
A new feature has been added to FIMS, a software application that automatically creates a customized file containing identification variables of PSID respondents’ relatives. A prospective inter-generational map (GID PRO) is now available.
  • With this feature, the starting generation (G1) is the original sample from 1968. Descendants of original PSID households form subsequent generations, up to three generations down (G2 – child, G3 – grandchild, G4 – great-grandchild).
  • The map provides biological relation (father or mother) between individuals and generation position of all individuals listed on each row.
