Pending administrative approval, the Department of Sociology at Rice University located in Houston, Texas invites applications for an open rank tenure-track or tenured position to begin July 2016. We welcome applicants who can build on our areas of research study or expand upon and broaden our existing strengths (please see our department website for more information on our specialties as a department and as individual researchers: http://sociology.rice.edu). PhD required, and applicants should have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, teaching, and collegial service. A successful senior candidate must have an outstanding record of scholarly achievement and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising. A successful junior candidate must be engaged in a research program with the potential to influence his/her field and demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising.
