Program Coordinator, Masters of Professional Studies in Applied Demography

The Department of Sociology at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applications for a full-time academic position to lead an online Masters of Professional Studies (MPS) in Applied Demography and to teach online classes beginning as soon as the position is filled.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Sociology, Demography, or related discipline. A Ph.D. by time of appointment is required and previous teaching experience, including online instruction, at a university level is preferred.  In addition, candidates should indicate their ability to coordinate hiring, supervision, and evaluation of instructors, to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, and to engage in planning and strategy development. The successful candidate will share with others involved a vision for a rigorous academic program development grounded by practical applications.  Responsibilities include developing and teaching online courses, serving as liaison to other units in the University, and coordinating program staffing, admissions, and student advising. Program infrastructure will be provided by Penn State’s Outreach unit.
