New Program – UT Austin Population Research Center, Demographers on Sabbatical
Demographers on Sabbatical (DOS) Program at University of Texas at Austin, Population Research Center (PRC)
The PRC has developed a new program, Demographers on Sabbatical (DOS), which will provide support to prominent population scientists wishing to spend their sabbatical semester/year at the center. The DOS program starts in Fall 2015, with support available for two positions. Reflecting the PRC’s emphasis on interdisciplinary research, DOS participants may include economists, sociologists, historians, epidemiologists, geographers or population scientists from other fields of study. The uniting theme is a central focus on population science and scientific leadership in the field.
DOS scholars will participate in PRC activities such as the weekly brown bag seminars and priority will be given to applicants who have an interest in participating in PRC research groups or working with PRC research affiliates on collaborative projects.
Scholars will have the option of spending one or two semesters on campus. Applicants should have have salary and fringe support from their home institution. The PRC/College of Liberal Arts will provide a $10,000 honorarium, travel for one round trip flight, office space in the PRC, and staff/computing support from the PRC.
