The Center on Poverty and Social Policy, at the Columbia School of Social Work, is seeking a postdoctoral research scholar with a PhD in economics, public policy, social work, sociology or a related discipline for a project on national and state trends in poverty. The postdoc will work with faculty and researchers to conduct new analyses of national and state trends in poverty using an improved measure of poverty based on the supplemental poverty measure (SPM) recently developed by the United States Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The project will consider key sub-groups as well as the overall population, and will also gather and take into account data on state-level policies and cost-of-living. The postdoctoral fellowship is for one year, with the option to renew for a second year contingent on performance and funding.
