Position Summary | The Department of Sociology at Portland State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin September 2016. Candidates’ research and teaching strengths should be in the field of criminology, broadly defined to include those with expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and/or cross-national methods. Our ideal candidate will have publications and a record of grant-seeking appropriate for the rank, and be able to contribute to both teaching and research for PSU’s substantial investment in social sustainability.
The Department of Sociology offers the Ph.D., master’s, and bachelor’s to nearly 400 majors. Faculty specialties include Criminology, Education, Environment, Family, Gender, Medical, Race/Ethnicity, Social Class/Stratification, Social Movements, and Urban Sociology. A successful candidate will be able to contribute to the department’s strengths in these areas. |

Minimum Qualifications | – Ph.D. required; ABDs must have Ph.D. by September 15, 2016.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement | The starting annual salary rate for this position will be dependent upon qualifications and experience with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities. |
