Position Announcement – University of California, Berkeley, School of Social Welfare
The School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a faculty position at the level of Associate or Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2016. (Search # JPF00779) We are looking to hire an Associate or Assistant Professor with a focus in the area of Poverty and Income Inequality.
Basic Qualifications (by time of application): The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is the completion of all PhD or equivalent degree requirements, except the dissertation, in Social Work/Welfare or a related field at the time of application. Evidence of scholarly work that includes a focus on poverty and/or income inequality, with an emphasis on how poverty and/or income inequality intersects with other social issues relevant to social welfare.
Additional Qualifications (by the expected start date): A Ph.D. or an equivalent doctorate from an accredited school or university in Social Work/Welfare or a related field by expected start date.
Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an active research agenda, achieved or show potential for substantial scholarly impact in his/her areas of interest, the ability to teach core courses in the School’s educational programs, and general expertise in the fields of social work and social welfare, including vulnerable populations consistent with the School’s mission. We are especially interested in candidates who have a master’s degree in Social Work/Welfare or related field and also have previous teaching experience and evidence of both published research and successful grant writing.
