Patrick Heuveline and Michael Tzen have published an article on medRxiv that proposes three indicators to compare CoViD-19 mortality with overall mortality and across populations:
In particular, the article provides the first 2 indicators—a crude and an age-standardized period death rate—for all countries, U.S. States and China Provinces included in the Johns Hopkins University dashboard tracker. CoViD-19-induction reductions in 2020 life expectancy at birth are also provided for the 49 countries for which projections are made by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation.
