Join PAA’s DoC event “Navigating the Academic Job Market”

We are glad to announce Friday, July 14th’s DoC event “Navigating the Academic Job Market” at 1 PM ET/11 AM PT on Zoom (details below). We will have three fantastic panelists -Deisy del Real (USC), Leydy Diossa-Jimenez (Michigan), and Zawadi Rucks-Ahidiana (SUNY Albany)- join us to discuss their experiences on both sides of the job market.

We seek to create safe spaces for scholars of all stages in the academic life cycle, especially those who identify as URM & DoC. All are welcome. We operate with a broad conceptualization of population sciences where researchers of all disciplines are welcome. We are building a broad community of DoC + allies to support ourselves and the generations rising. We acknowledge the systems of oppression in which we live and work, our privileged positions within, and our enduring hopes of and work for transformation. In this event in particular, we hope folks searching for academic jobs will get good tips and advice on different aspects of a successful search, and to create a space where we will have a frank and open discussion about these issues and anything participants may want to know about these issues.

In addition to your attendance, we would very much appreciate it if you can forward to colleagues, particularly students or those in charge of student and postdoc listservs and other communication lists.
