UCLA Fielding School of Public Health: Open-Ranked Faculty positions

Open-Rank Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty positions

DESCRIPTION

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH) seeks applicants for two open-ranked tenure-track or tenured faculty positions whose research and teaching focuses on assessing the impact of social policies and programs designed to improve population health at the national and global level. Successful candidates will hold a primary appointment in one of FSPH’s five departments (http://ph.ucla.edu/degrees-and-academics/academic-departments), which are Biostatistics, Community Health Sciences, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology, and Health Policy and Management. Successful candidates may also hold a joint appointment across two departments.

Candidates must be strongly committed to high quality graduate-level teaching, outstanding cutting-edge research, and public service. Although the specific discipline and field of specialization are open, the successful candidates need to have demonstrated experience conducting quantitative analyses of the impact of national and/or global policies or programs that improve social determinants of health at scale globally or across large and diverse geographic regions.

Responsibilities include teaching courses and advising students at the masters and doctoral level, conducting highly innovative research and continuing or (depending on career stage) building a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, active involvement in the school and the profession, and continuing or building a successful record of extramural research funding.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, DrPH or equivalent). We encourage applications from candidates in all disciplines of public health as well as a wide range of related fields including the social and behavioral sciences, statistics, public policy, and economics. Candidates must demonstrate strong skills in statistical analysis, research methods, and recent advances in quantitative methods. A strong track record of effective teaching is also essential for more senior candidates. Faculty appointment level and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The Fielding School of Public Health is located on the main UCLA campus close to the other health sciences schools (Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing), the College of Letters and Sciences (Social and Behavioral Sciences, Life and Physical Sciences, Humanities), the Luskin School of Public Affairs, the Schools of Law and Education, and other units. The UCLA community has a strong track record of and commitment to interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
