Additional Information about NSHAP
NSHAP is a longitudinal study of health and aging led by an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the University of Chicago, with data collected by NORC at the University of Chicago. In Wave 1 (collected 2005-06), data were collected from a nationally representative probability sample of 3,005 community-dwelling adults in the US, ages 57-85. Wave 2 was collected 2010-11, and collected data from the original respondents and their spouses or cohabiting partners (n=3,377 total respondents). Data from Waves 1 and 2 are currently available for analysis through the National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA).
NSHAP data is composed of three types of measurements: in-home interviews, biomeasures, and leave-behind questionnaires. The questionnaire remained relatively unchanged between the waves to capture change over time in social relationships, romantic partnerships, sexuality, physical and mental health, and personality.
