Network Research Computing Solutions
Bear Force One (BF1)
- CCPR’s secure data environment you can remotely connect from anywhere.
- Robust, enterprise solution for our research affiliates to completing their projects and overcoming limitations to personal computing.
- Provides a cluster of session host servers with high end processors and large amounts of memory, available for computation and debugging.
- Windows desktop interface, hosting the latest licensed data science and statistical tools such Stata/MP, SAS, ArcGIS Pro & many others.
- Works in parallel with the DataDen, our secured, on-premise NAS solution.
- For more information, please visit our BF1 FAQ page.
The DataDen
- Our centralized, mountable storage solution designed for our research affiliates.
- Providing file shares through multiple storage protocols, ensuring compatibility for authorized Windows, Apple and Linux workstations.
- Authorized affiliates are provided access to efficiently manage and safeguard individual and group data, in addition to serving as a repository for restricted datasets.
- Network-based storage system that works in conjunction with Bear Force One on our 10GbE fabric environment.
- For more information, please visit our DataDen FAQ page.
High Performance Cluster Computing (Hoffman2)
- The Hoffman2 Cluster is a Linux compute cluster currently consisting of 800+ high processing nodes with an aggregate of over 179TB of memory.
- The Office of Advanced Research Computing’s (OARC) and the Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE) manages and maintains the Hoffman2 Cluster.
- CCPR has provisioned additional group-owned nodes for our affiliated group to run jobs with higher priority and extended run time capabilities up to 14 days.
- More information regarding the Hoffman2 cluster and access request can be found here:http://www.hoffman2.idre.ucla.edu/getting-started/
CCPR Secure Data Enclave
CCPR’s Secure Data Enclave (SDE) provides a secure air gapped environment with which to store and work on restricted datasets. In-depth information regarding the SDE and restricted data support can be found here.
Applying for Resources
- To learn more about any of the resources mentioned above, please review our Computing Orientation Slide.
- Once you know what resources you would like to use, please submit your request on the following form: Computing Resource Application
- If your Data Use Agreement (DUA) requires a signature on behalf of the Institution, please see UCLA’s Technology Development Group (TDG) UCLA Receipt/Transfer of Materials & Data page
- If you need help answering certain Data Management questions or submitting a Data Security Plan with your DUA application, please review our FAQ document on acquiring restricted datasets. You can simply copy and paste the answers provided in the document to help expedite your application process.
